Located on 24 peaceful acres surrounded by thousands of acres of BLM land, The Best Paw Forward is a special place for dogs and their humans to visit. Our goal is to provide an environment that calms your dog and allows them to feel right at home, whether coming for a grooming session by a fear-free certified staff member or lucky enough to be spending some time at our boarding facility, running around seven acres of fully enclosed , adventure filled, Juniper and Pinion forest.
With every grooming service provided or boarding stay, 1% of the revenue generated is given back to an animal welfare organization in our local or state community. We see the invaluable resource that animal welfare organizations throughout Colorado provide and want to give back as a way of saying "thank you."
With over 20 years in the animal welfare business, your furry loved one is in loving, experienced hands. Not only does the owner of The Best Paw Forward hold her certification as a Fear Free groomer, she also graduated from a nationally recognized grooming school. Melissa holds two degrees in Animal Science and has experience working in some of the top animal shelters in the United States.
Melissa's love for animals doesn't end with dogs. She has opened her home to many animals that have had a rough start in life. Upon arrival to The Best Paw Forward, you will likely be greeted by donkeys, goats, chickens and if you are lucky....Frank, the Tortoise!
We are always prepared for any of your pet's needs and ensure that your pet will receive the best care and love. Their happiness and care is our priority and we strive to provide a service we would want our own pets to receive. With your dog being the only pup in the shop during your appointment, your dog will likely be away from you for about 1.5 hours. Many other shops have your dog for up to 8 hours during their appointment day. The longer your pup is away from home, the more stress they typically feel.
Our boarding kennels give your pup secure indoor/outdoor access with several supervised adventures in our fully enclosed seven (7) acre forested space where they can dig, chase, play with their new found dog friends and simply be dogs.
The Best Paw Forward Grooming Salon is intentionally small, resulting in a calming environment for your furry family member during their scheduled grooming appointment. Your dog will receive individualized care throughout their salon visit. Your dog or family of pups will be the only ones in the salon during their grooming visit. This often results in less stress for your dog, allowing them to relax and enjoy their salon experience. Grooming begins as soon as your dog(s) arrives and they head back home with you as soon as they are finished. No more dropping your family member off for an entire day to be groomed.
The Best Paw Forward Boarding Facility is nestled on twenty four (24) very quiet acres. Our boarding facility is small, with just seven (7) kennels that provide soothing music throughout the day and climate controlled indoor/outdoor access. During the day, they will be stimulated and exhausted during their supervised adventures in the fully enclosed seven (7) acres of Juniper and Pinion forest land created with dogs in mind. They are shaded by countless trees, surrounded by space to sniff every nook and cranny, dig as many holes as they desire and run with their new found dog friends. By the end of a full day, your dog will sleep peacefully, dreaming about the day's adventures and what is to come in the morning. For an additional fee, dogs can adventure for up to five (5) miles of leashed hikes in the BLM land that borders the facility.
The owner of The Best Paw Forward specializes in working with dogs that have had poor grooming experiences in the past. Melissa understands that dogs need to be groomed regardless of their current fear or aggression level. As a team, we work with you and your pup to ensure that they have positive experiences when being groomed at The Best Paw Forward. Together, we come up with a plan that works best for your dog to regain his/her trust in being groomed. As your dog gets older, he/she still needs to be groomed and often times their grooming needs increase due to age and limitations in grooming themselves. We offer a quiet environment where your geriatric dogs can take breaks when needed and the ultimate care is given to the dogs in the Gray Muzzle Club. We also work with puppies to ensure that they enjoy and look forward to their grooming experiences from the very beginning, setting them up for a lifetime of success. Pricing will vary according to your pet's specific needs.
